Baby Gifts

Hello there...happy Tuesday!

Last week was super busy with baby gifts!

I've been selling personalized baby gifts on Etsy since 2010. Once I became a grandmother in 2018 my shop was only open 6 months out of the year to accommodate my travel/babysitting schedule.

My newest grandson will be arriving sometime in March, so I'll be closing the shop in a week before heading to Texas.

Thankfully, I've been blessed to have repeat customers who contact me directly when they need something.

I wanted to share a few of the items I've made this past week/weekend!

Spring Tulips - Quilted Wall hanging

 Hello there...happy Friday!

I love springtime and nothing says spring like tulips!

This past week I've been sewing all spring things and have one finish to share with you today.

I saw this Twirling Tulips video by Misty Doan with Missouri Star Quilt Company and became inspired to try it, with my own spin of course :)

In the video Misty uses their Drunkard Path template. I am terrible at sewing curves - for every good attempt I have five failures, and five times I pull out my seam ripper!  I know practice makes perfect but I'm not there yet.

I pulled out my trusty Creative Grids Round Up tool to cut the drunkard path pieces. The Round Up Tool allows you to cut both 4- and 5-inch drunkard path pieces. I used five-inch drunkard path pieces for my wall hanging. I used Heat - N - Bond lite behind each square before using the Round Up Tool.

After cutting I arranged the pieces on a 6.5-inch background fabric forming the tulip shape.

I then sewed the 4-patch together and voila a tulip appeared!

I used scraps from my Sherri & Chelsi basket to create the tulips. I love the colors and ditzy prints which have a lovely spring feeling to them.

The tulips were fun to make, I used rayon thread and a blanket stitch around each flower. My finished quilt measures 36 x 36 inches.

Now I must decide wall-hanging or table topper?

What do you think?

Sweet On You Blog Hop

 Hello there...happy Tuesday!

Today is my turn to join in on the "Sweet on You" blog hop, hosted by Joan with Moosetash Quilting.

I know Valentine's Day has passed, but it is one of my favorite days of the year and I waited until the sweet on you blog hop to share my projects!

I am sweet on red and sweet on hearts!

Hubby and I started dating in February 25 years ago! Every year in February since we've been married, I put little decor items out in red or heart shaped trinkets as not so subtle reminders :), and yes, we do try to something special on Valentine's Day!

This year hints include the following:

Couch pillow for him-

Brigitte Heitland's foundation paper pieced pattern for the L-O-V-E letters can be found here.

Couch pillow for me -

Seasoned Homemaker's foundation paper pieced heart pattern can be found here.

table setting for two -

you + me = us table runner

Decoupaged office door hanger-

Foam roses at the front door -

And my favorite creation this month - our entry way table decor

I made the tray with all Dollar Tree items and the vase is a wine bottle covered with twine.

Overall, it was a great Valentine's Day this year, dinner with friends and a show at the theatre.

I would like to thank Joan again for hosting this Sweet on You challenge...this is my first blog hop!  It's great seeing what other makers are featuring.

Be sure to stop by the other bloggers to see what sweetness they are sharing!

Message In a Bottle - Plus Sign Quilt

 Hello there...Happy Monday!

I have a finish to share with you today.  A couple of years ago I purchased the book "modern PLUS SIGN QUILTS" by Cheryl Brickley and Paige Alexander.

modern Plus Sign Quilts

The book has sixteen (16) beautiful patterns featuring a modern plus quilt block.  All the quilt layouts in the book are gorgeous and the photography superb!  The projects vary in both difficulty and technique, a book I plan to use often.

I needed a new wall hanging for our entry way so I chose the message in a bottle pattern from the book.

For my version of this pattern I used fabric from the Land of Liberty collection by Minds Eye for Riley Blake. I adjusted the pattern slightly smaller to fit my wall space.

I am so in love with this fabric collection and super happy with our new wall hanging!
